G'day Rob. I see what you saying. So do you think our brain/mind/consciousness (not sure what to call it) is a deterministic system?

What is your take on quantum entanglement Mark (Nesti)? I would think that this would set the arrow of time at a quantum level. Once an interaction that is indeterminate has occurred how can it be unscrambled?

I have been to busy specializing in molecular biology for the last thirty years and have only thought about the Universe and the meaning of life on a part time basis.

I last did really heavy mathematics and quantum theory in the early seventies to the eighties.

I only have more questions than answers.

Sorry to use the singular vertical pronoun so often (Sir Humprey).

To believe in a universal standing wave brings us back to a bog ordinary constant Universe a la Hoyle.

Or to put it another way a cosmic jukebox with a limited repertoire.

The Universe has too many properties that rule this out. The eons that passed before even simple stuff happened also rules this out.

Hi Shane,

The point I was trying to make is, whether it is deterministic or not, our future choices cannot be predicted with certainty i.e. free will exists.
My personal feeling is that the brain is a combination of quantum mechanical processes and complex biological (molecular) associations and is not a deterministic system.
But then I really no zip here!

Regards, Rob.

Rob I think I've solved it. It can be described by the formula R=(Q+M)1/S
where R = Reality, Q = The brains current quantum state, M = The brains current molecular state and S = The amount of sedative needed to cope with R.

Lovely! Especially, R being inversely proportional to S.
Could explain my spelling of "know".

I think any predictions made should come with the warning I get on all my investment product selections ...

"Past performance is no indication of future performance."
