Good work Dave, they look great. how do they fear against what you had?

I agree with Mark, the wooden legs give it a classy look.

I think a set of home made wooden legs, and a home made electric focuser
ex DEC motor thingy, would make imaging a whole lot better/easier for me.
Just haven't gotten around to it.

Hi Ving and Geoff, thanks for the welcome. I have ventured countless times to this site for the great reading and photos, and have not posted till today. I found that the description of someone who visits sites without posting/contributing is termed "lurker". Sounds a bit like sneaking around I guess, bit derogatory really, so I thought I had better mend my ways. Geoff, of the many 'Marks' that you know, I am that skinny one near the beach.

Hey Mark, seeing the Tak for the first time sitting on top of the hill near the driveway was mastercard priceless.

(Remember the ownership order is You->Dave->Me )

Glad to see you've joined up.

So I had a chance to test the tripod in the wind.

Viewed for about half hour tonight. All I can say apart from the wind the new tripod was fantastic

I had trouble focusing at high power with the old aluminium tripod. It was very frustating. To give it a number say, I would give it a 2/10. Very bad.
Let me tell you the wooden tripod I give it a 9/10.

It worked so good its unbelievable Focusing at high power was great so smooth hardly any vibration.

So this was well worth the effort. If your thinking of doing it. Don't think it just do it. You wont regret it.
