The job of servicing Evaps is best done by oneself - if able. I've had some bad experiences with this. They take off filters - spray filters - swill some water around - drain - take home $120 or more!

Well....
The saga was going on in the background during all this time (almost 4 weeks!!!), there were some negotiations and talks, ordering parts... but I did not bother to rant here about all this...

Today they finally came (the same guy, a plumber), with new control box.
The bill this time: $120 ($300 total).

The ONLY reason I "outsourced" this job was insurance in case of fire (advice given by fire men who were on the site when it all started).
I am still sort of tempted to disclose the business name this bunch of clowns operate under.. and I will, if the thing breaks down again, both here and to ACCC.

Hopefully, this is over...

BTW, this story of mine reminds me of recent "near - almost- fall" of Peter Garrett.. No-one can take care of incompetent clowns like those who tried to repair my cooling system..

Bojan, you should take it further, just think how many more mistakes this cowboy outfit are going to make. How would you feel if you read in the local newspaper that a house burned down and it's occupant died in the fire, after this outfit issued a good certificate the day before? A plumber? I can't believe it! It's these shonky businesses that give tradies a bad rap. How do these guy's get their licences? You've got nothing to loose by reporting them to the relevant authorities.

Go and report it Bojan. This whole thing has taken up enough of your time and money.
I doubt they even have licences. there would be one 'licence' holder and everyone else would work under that. So reporting the business would more than likely shut them down.

and a plumber with a control box......... unbelievable!!!!!!!

Who can you report dodgy tradies to?!

Who can you report dodgy tradies to?!

This year I've had a zero-percent success rate with tradies ...

- cable guy - all phones and internet stopped working
- ISP - no hardware to access internet, but still charged me for it
- electrician - ceiling cables that don't all work, and mislabelled the ones that do
- painter - that didn't paint the top of anything
- floorboard guy - that trimmed doors, that now don't close
- door guy - that installed the wrong door downstairs, and the down back-to-front upstairs
- kitchen benchtop guy - that installed a cracked benchtop, and sludge throughout kitchen cupboards (and claims that granite is supposed to crack, refuses to put his opinion in writing, and refuses to see me in person)
- stereo guy - still waiting 10 weeks for modifications
- car stereo guy - that can't fix or replace what they sell & install
- air-conditioning guy - that left random cricket ball sized holes in walls, and concrete in carpet
- car exhaust guy - that resulted in my car being 1dB above the legal limit, and thus reportable to the EPA

Okay, so maybe there may be genuine tradies out there ... but I don't think I'll ever have the opportunity of ever meeting one!

You can, but you might have to try a few first. We've been lucky, except that the guy building our extension was runner up in Australia's Got Talent. It's nails or notes, hammers or harmony, string lines or guitar strings. I hope he keeps building.
