I don`t think I could reach temperatures that your cold box could achieve but like you say, even a modest drop shall improve the S/N.
The other peltier would be ideal but I don`t think my power supply would cope with 2 TEC`s at the same time. The fish tank aerator sounds like a good idea! Have to look into that. Have to chase down some silicone bags now and some more bits and pieces.
