Mines going well, I have no tight spots. Half way through and I find myself really looking forward to the next issues starting on the base I believe.

The way i see it from the post everyone is getting the same issues sent, whether it is from timing but wondering if it could be from manufacture. I have issue 27 as well.

So possibly trying to get issues after first release could be difficult.

Notice advertising drops off quickly after release although didn't see any advertising on this issue only the "Build a Solar System".

Missing Parts?

And then........ Issue 28 did not come with the parts as stated (see image). But it came with a smaller set of parts, but not clear what they are for. The packet marking was odd as well, as though they were an extra.

All other issues before and after are as per magazine pictures.

Newsagent says they have been calling the distributer but no positive response as yet re missing parts.

Di you get this engraved drum plate etc? Without it, we cannot make up the drum and move forward.

Hi Eric,
I am building this model as well.
In issue 28 we were supposed to get the Engraved plate.
What they sent were 2 self adhesive brass tabs to add to 159 tooth solar eclipse gear and a brass round locking collar which is a drive shaft support to be added later after we get the round engraved plate.

Explaining all this was a extra single page insert in my issue 28 that explained that the engraved base plate had some unforseen manufacturing problems and will be supplied in a later issue..
Also this page explained about how to attach these strange parts they sent us..

Did you get this insert Eric? If not I will scan mine and put it up here,

Peter Langdown..

Oops. Thanks Peter. I have just checked and that sheet did arrive but I had thought it was just to do with the extra parts. I didn't realise that it explained the delay on the parts that were scheduled with Issue 28.

We may just send an email to the distributer asking for an update on delivery for the missing parts.

Glad you got it Eric..
It would be good to good to complete this model and get it working with all the bits.
Keep us informed if you get a reply from them.
thanks.
Ps. I did have a similar issue with tightness of the earth shaft but have resolved it with an adjustment..
At least it is something to tinker with with all this cloud around at the moment.

Peter.

I seem to be having an expansion or contraction issue with it ATM, The gearing has become very tight now even to a point of freezing up at a point although have not done anything to it since the last time I checked.

Issue with Issue 28

Hi guys,

after completing the solar system ( now running well after a few, OK lots, of adjustments ), I've started the Tellurion with great gusto and it looks like a great little project.

I too receved issue 28 with stick on parts and locking collar insted of the engraved base plate with a sheet explaining the going on's. But Then

My newsagent phoned me and told me that the publisher has recalled all of issue 28 and they want it back with parts, so off I went and returned the lot

What Im wandering now is did anybody else have to return there parts and mag ?? and are we going to get that locking collar back in a future issue. ??

I would hate this to be a drama at the end of the project. I wasent thinking clearly at the time I returned issue 28 as my friday night went kinda like this..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UopI9egLwx0

What up

Humm the plot thickins Thanks in advance

Stubbzie

Well, we weren't asked to return Issue 28.

We now have a box overflowing with parts waiting for the missing part so we can get back to work with the screwdriver and allen key!

Have emailed the distributer - no response

Erick, that was my experience with the distributors with the last model (Solar System). They just didn't want to know. I was told by email to re-order the issue/faulty parts from the UK through my newsagent (which may take months !! - and could still be faulty!). The newsagent, nice chap though he is, wasn't any more help either.

So I called the local agent for the mag here in WA. They confirmed they had a spare copy from an original over-supply and they'd send it to my newsagent a few suburbs away that same day. So, within the week rather than months if I'd left it up to them, I had returned my faulty bit and received the new bit. But it did involve a bit of thinking outside the square.

Frankly, I think the service stinks for such expensive items, and that's why I didn't bother with the tellurion, - much as I would have loved to have bought it.

Cheers

I just received the lastest issue including the missing top plate (from issue 28 or 27 can't remember) and have now put it all together. Still a few more issues left and the additional part that was supplied was for issue 52 part 2. If you look at the back it will display the issue it goes with.
That will be the last part to add but I suspect they may send another one anyway.
I also have not been asked to send the extra part back too.

I must admit it is getting a bit on the heavy side and realise the whole balancing may cause a problem if any of the parts are not tightened properly.

We started with ordering through a local agent but gave up, once we went to direct subscription with the company all has been great. We are able to contact the supplier direct to deal with issues. We are given a client number and all tech support issues are easily dealt with.

Morning All

Got my Issue 28 back with the stick on bits and the locking collar that are suppose to be from issue 52, yes my news agent did get an email telling him to send issue 28 back confirming what Paul said " The Service Stinks ", I dont think the left hand and the right hand know what is going on.

But My agent did say that the base plate was coming in issue 41 and that should be in the next few days (yay).

I am hoping that the box of parts we have all collected in the last, oh yeah 3 and a half months, all go together smoothly or we could all be in for a big chunk of back log if something else aint quite right and juging on past performance this is on the cards although im going to be positive about it and I'll stop grisiling now

Orrory now works well, Tellurion WILL work well does anybody know what the next project is ? as im a glutton for punishment and love this stuff

The way the books are starting to read, I got a feeling it will be on the environment or geology. Gettting a lot of reading about the earth geology as the primary topics with space issue taking as smaller topics.
