Can anyone comment on Ph.D cosmologist Riofrio's idea that the speed of light c varies with time, as per GM=tc^3.

This has some interesting corollaries:
- high red-shift of far/longtime away objects explained
- moon's high receding velocity suddenly fits with theory
- dark-energy ideas are not needed. She views them as equivalent to epicycles before Copernicus

Her blog http://riofriospacetime.blogspot.com never says why c is always understood to be constant, but I guess blogs are about broadcasting one's viewpoint...

Unfortunately the blog is often sidetracked away from physics/cosmology nowadays, and some of the pics are egotistical but there are very interesting ideas including black holes in planets and even moons (explains warm poles, Mercury's magnetism).

thought I'd throw it in the mix

Riofro's argument is based on the assumption that the Universe has undergone an Einstein-DeSitter expansion (the inertia of the BB being slowed down by gravity).

The GM=tc^3 equation only holds for an Einstein-DeSitter expansion.

Not only is the Universe accelerating but the evidence reveals the so called "Cosmic Jerk" where the Universe at some point in the past was decelerating only for the build up of dark energy to change expansion from deceleration to acceleration.

This is contrary to an Einstein DeSitter expansion hence one can conclude that the speed of light does not vary with time as the Universe has not undergone a uniform slowing down of expansion.
