Sorry guys, I just spoke to Ken. It is a WWII anti-aircraft spotlight mirror as suspected.

Sorry for building up your hopes and the run around, Ken come and told me he had this mirror and I did not ask too many question about it and as I didn't see it myself and not knowing that WWII searchlight were mirror base I though I must be a telescope mirror

And it would have been a big headache too. If carried horizontally is overwidth for a truck and if it was a 6:1 thickness mirror it would be over a tonne. Just getting from Sydney to Canberra would be a large job.

Just as well for me I had a 3 tonne truck at my disposal...
