Stunning work Doug. You've come ahead in leaps and bounds with the FSQ. Such a forgiving imaging instrument, pretty hard to go wrong and fun to use. Well done.

Thanks Martin, I will post a higher res image on my website when I get some time. At the moment I am fighting with a termite infestation I came home to.

Thanks H, If I spend a little more time on the image I may find a bit more of the dust cloud to extract.

Thanks Jase, This scope certainly is a wonderful istrument to work with. It seems to captre the fine dust and detail much better than anyother scope I have had but the processing is again a bit of a ne world challenge.

Thanks Robin. Colour is always a tough one with DSO's so at times it is what we like to see. Hard to be truely subjective.

Very nice detail in there Doug.
It's amazing how much dust this region has.
I never tire of this area.

Ahhh well ashes to ashes Dust to Dust, i am afraid that its got no guts......

Nice image Doug but pushed a bit too hard for the exposure time. Cost you a bit of richness in the colours. There's no subsitute for exposure time. Getting enough exposure time to have a strong enough signal to process is one of the great difficulties of this game. Lots of factors are against getting it - weather, patience, gear reliability, travelling to a site, time off work etc etc. As a rule it seems it is better to spend more time on a worthwhile object than imaging several objects in a night with short exposure time on each. Easy to say, hard to apply as it is easy to get enthused about imaging all the various great targets out there plus
having all the gear setup and working with cloudfree dark skies for a long time is a hard task.

Greg.

Thanks JJJ, Mike certainly did a nice job on the core. This is something I still struggle with.

Thanks RB, a very rich area full of dust and detail. It is a hard one with only a 16 bit camera. Dynamically It would be great at 32 or 64 bits but not going to happen quickly to us mere mortals. Worth spending some time on this area for sure.

Thanks David, No ed to apologise, it's a great way to learn. I was blown away the detail I was able to grab or such a short exposure. I will have another go at this one later when it getsa bit higher in the sky.

Thanks Greg, yes I understand what you are saying. It is always hard to get the correct amount of exposure for a given target. Something we have to live with but I will give it another go when it is a bit higher in the sky from home.
