I agree that its pretty hard to find a bargain with popular stuff that people want. The odd and obscure can sometimes be had at bargain prices though.

I think with telescopes the starting price is often about 20% more than what I'd reckon a reasonable finish price would be

i rarely buy anything on ebay these days because of that... still, if you look hard you can still get a bargain or 2.
I thought $80 for a celestron ultima shipped to my door was pretty good

I wonder if the camera sold?

eBay Items

Would anyone like to offer a comment on two items currently for sale on eBay:
a. A Meade scope accessory kit (2x Barlow, 18mm WA & 5mm Plossl), 1.25", the last one sold for ~$125.00.
b. Tele Vue 8mm, 1.25" Plossl

I disagree.....I have got some real bargains on EBAY....

Canon 17-40mm L series lense...retail $1300-$1400
I payed $830 that's including postage and fees.

Canon 100mm F2 lense... retail $950
Payed $440 that includes postage and fees.

Both come with international Canon warranty

I say their bargains.

But yes lots are even more expensive...you just need to know where too look.

Know the product and costs of the item what your looking for and you cant go wrong.

I agree Tony, camera gear is cheap on ebay. I bought a 50mm f1.4 lens about a year ago from cameraaction.com.au for $600 + postage, I thought that price was good after going into Ted's and finding they wanted over $1200. That same lens on ebay is about $350 new.
I bought a camera from an ebay shop a couple of months ago. The best price in Australia was $1400+, I got it imported for $830 including all fees.
I do wonder if some of this gear is the real thing, or if it is the worst of a production batch with minor faults, but it's so much cheaper and if it's got a warranty there shouldn't be any problems.
