Sorry to hear that, what a horrible end to what would of been an
amazing trip. I'll keep my eyes pealed as well. Lets us know the serial
number when you find it.

And like Chris, it is why I never have list my gear in my signature. Yup
I know I have my Long-Lat in my signature... as of last week you will
be about 50kms off target.

Hope you get it back!!!

Cheers,CS

Sorry to hear about that, i hope you recover it. I agree with Chris and Rob, in this age of technology its much more easier for us to become targets. We have google maps that can see down to the street level oh our homes. We have online forums where our conversations our public record, like going away on holidays and what equipment we own or use. We share our images with details of the equipment we used.

But as with all things there are vices and virtures, and unfortunately there are people out there who would use them as vices. But i do still think the online community does offer much more virtures. And I hope that it will be the virtues of our community that will see your scope back in your hands.

Regards
Fahim

Interesting too that many of us advertise what our gear is worth in the "What's your equipment worth?" sticky.

100% agree, Fahim. Advertising your Lat/Long for your home address is dangerous.

ditto, Paul.

Has IIS thought about a warning on the Lat/Long entry page to cover themselves? I, personally think you're mad if you tell the world where you live, right down to the street number, dangerous, dangerous, dangerous!

Rotten buggers, awful news.

Hope you can get your gear back and that it is not damaged in the mean time.
