Just found the ultimate Dave on Pegster's home site. Dave Davis, (gotta qualify as a double dave) of Toledo, Oregon USA builds scopes from foam, grinds mirrors from pyrex pie plates and lists a mirror ground from a microwave oven pyrex turntable as his latest project.
Note the mirror for the foam scope. It's VERY thin, 1/4 inch or so... apparently it was made by taking plate glass and heating it up (nearly glass melting temperatures) over a pie plate to let it "slump" somewhat into the plate. This gives it a mostly spherical shape which needs "just a little bit more polishing".

Imagine being stuck with this name: Ba Lam Dung

He was a salesman at a place I worked at in Melbourne years ago.

That is very unfortunate! And I am sure you addressed him with his full name too . Did he originally migrate from NZ!

Nah, Vietnam. We addressed him as Dung. Aparently their first name goes at the end.

His name is said as Dung Lam Ba but written the other way around.
