G'day Tnott,

The idea is to transform this monolith into a more manageable three pole truss scope like the ones in 'Dob Stuff'.

The scope works beautifully, thanks to the modifications Andrew had made,, but the mount is old and very tired, and a little top heavy.

This is the puppy I had in mind with all the inquiries I had been making, .

Mental.

P.S. I was allowed into the house, but only to reaquaint myself with the sofa.

Thanks to all for your kind congratulations, .

I had another go with Her on Saturday night before the moon rose.

It was a two hour session to figure out more closely how to handle its bulk, for now. Nailed 19 objects in that time, all from pretty much central Sydney. Never had such a night other than in the bush, .

I'm hoping to take Her to the blue mountains this weekend, weather permitting. Where depends, as I'll be following the crowd through the 'Star Parties' forum under the 'Blue Mountains' posting.

I think I now have a nice Trinity of 'scopes:

My trusty Celestron C5, which I can equatorially mount or throw into a bag, with a photo tripod, and of I go,

A two pole truss 10" dob which I built, and takes just four minutes to set-up, and so easy to use,

And now this bubba, all 17.5" and 2metre focal length.

I'll do my best to keep you informed on how to new modifications to this new scope goes. I'll be keeping the mirror , cell, spider and secondary and focuser. The rest will be fashioned anew, .

Mental
