Mate... Amazing result, so much detail! Thirteen hours of data and clever processing. Way to go. Good luck at Ilford this weekend, I hope the weather co-operates!

Cheers,

Rob

i agree with RB - very artistic, and i like the detail you have captured. Well done you have made the effort and have some good data to play with.

Love it Marc - beautiful to look at.
I'm jealous of the extended palette you get with the NB filters.
Beaucoup Bon!!!!

So arrrrr...when is the mono camera coming Marc? It is your answer to addressing the SII woes, unless of course you're comfortable quadrupling your expose time on a OSC (a little exaggerated, but you get the drift). Pleasing or should I say interesting result with oil painting like tones which shall be named Marc's palette - an alternative to the Hubble palette. You should try clipping masks some time as it provides incredible flexibility in mapping the colours. You don't need to use the default colourisation hue such as 230 for blue or 120 for green. You can also alter the colour intensity per mapped channel including saturation and lightness. Fred provided a "how-to" clipping mask link in your other thread on Narrowband processing info. Subsequently, this technique originated not by Ken, but that of Dr. Travis A. Rector and his colleagues, who processes much of the data from the STSci (HST) and Gemini telescopes. It is not only used to map narrowband colours, but also traditional RGB through pro filters. I however have only used the technique for narrowband - with good results.

Thanks David. The Ha and Oiii were ok. I spent two days at Ilford under the rain to come back to Sydney blue skies and I can't help thinking "was I in the wrong place at the wrong time?" Please tell me it was hailing in Sydney too ...

Merci Doug. Colours are ok but I'm trying to get this elusive Sii.

I'm married so I know pain and how to buy jewelery I don't think I'll ever have the finance or the patience for a mono. I would have to do all my RGB the same way I do narrow band... Thanks heaps for the tips. As per usual I copy/paste your posts in my ever growing jase_tips.txt on my desktop and go back to read it when I process stuff.
