Skywatcher 'GOTO' Dobs.

The new Skywatcher GOTO Dobs will be released as "Auto Tracking' Dobs only with a simple to use Hand Controller as was originally planned but by switching the Hand Controller with a HEQ5 Pro EQ6 Pro Hand Controller, you convert the scope into a fully GOTO Alt/Az Dob. These Hand Controllers are fully interchangeable.

Do you know that for a fact, or are you just guessing?
The original ads talked of an AZ goto handset.

Price Update

Andrews now has prices on the collapsible dobs.

200mm...$1499
250mm...$1899
300mm...$2999

still pricey, but a bit more like it.

Well it seems pretty clear from the price points that the premium paid strongly varies between sizes and I bet its exactly the same hardware on each scope.

This person over at CN seems to have managed to turn his autotracking flextube into a goto by interchanging the handset

Point was brightstar was talking about using an existing handset from an EQ mount. I doubt very much its the same thing as the AZ handset.

De-Rotation

Off the topic slightly I know but is there a way of de-rotating progressive subs at the editing stage so that the subs may be stacked? I imagine at f-4.7 you could get very useable subs at about the 60sec mark.

A guy in USA I speak to on another forum has a 12" goto dob from skywatcher... He's been taking a few planetary images with it and claims that provided you do a good 3 star alignment, the tracking is good enough to keep jupiter in the camera field of view with a 5x powermate for a good 30 minutes... Thats quite good... Sure, its not everones cup of tea, but im sure there is a market for it!
