The payments for the back to school bonus for children get paid out this fortnight via centerlink, and the low income earners ATO payment rolls out next month if you worked paid tax and have already processed your 07/08 tax statement and earned under 100k you will get a payment, i know that 80k and under is $900 and 80/90k is $600 payment and i think over 90/100k is $250 payment.
P.S, there are other payments being rolled out i think it was for
students and struggling farmers.

I earned about 5000 bucks last financial year and paid about $450 tax with a casual job, will I still get this 900 dollar bonus, seeing as I paid tax?

Did you put a tax return in and not get all your tax back? If yes to both questions then, my reading of the rules is yes, you will!

$900 - nothin'. Go and build a new house in Vic. Feds will give you $21,000 and Vics will give you $5,000. Build it in Regional Vic and the Vics will give you an extra $3,000. Prices depressed, interest rates at an all time low - cannot imagine a better time to take the plunge?

Hey,
not necessarily. I didn't pay any tax, - in fact I got a refund from an overpayment the previous year. And we still got the payment.
Only problem was it didn't say exactly how it was made up, so it's quite tricky to breakdown.
But I'm not too worried as, with three kids, we got close to $4k, so my only real problem is what to get with it.
Quite a nice problem to have actually
Cheers

buy an observatory, pass it off as your residence, heck all those grants will pay for the whole thing!

Bugger, I don't think I get any but the wife should. Now to convince her she needs some astro stuff
Unfortunately looking at the bigger picture I cant help feeling we are all going to have to indirectly pay it back later down the track in some form of tax hikes etc. to fix up the deficit that we will be going into. Unless of course the minerals boom picks up again REAL soon in a big way.
