My day? Well after a loverly breakfast cooked by my dear wife, I settled down to watch the mercury reach 41.9 deg. (common at this time of year here!). Then just as I took my first bite of lunch off goes the pager, fire! (I'm in the local volunteer brigade).

And thats what I have spent Sunday afternoon doing, home now and I hope no more this w/end.

Cheers everyone.

I did get out. Close to lining up permission to use a good "close to home" site for observing. It gets me away from the local Bacchus Marsh light pool - skies above my back yard are not dark enough. But I did drive around and found another likely location 10 min drive away. But the few broken beer bottles scattered around were a bit worrying.... I hope the first one comes through - it's very secure.

^^ 40 degrees should be the norm, rather than exception up there at this time of the year. But this is one of the coldest summers in recent times here. The antarctic territory of Melbourne has been extremely cold this "summer". Our temps have resembled early spring ever since mid-november. I live a bit inland from the Port Phillip Ice shelf, so it probably hasn't been as frigid as in the CBD, but notheless, its part of life here in the roaring 40's.

I ws gonna go out tonight, but the full moon and continual trashy seeing had me inside getting wasted instead

Congrats on your new converts aswell! May they go forth and open their wallets in pursuit of their new found nocturnalism!
