Thanks for checking out the image Craig. You'll have plenty of luck with 400mm FL. You'll at least pick up the full quartet instead of the triplet presented here. Personally, I think this area is best nailed at around the ~2000mm mark where you get good image scale and FOV (if you've got the sensor to handle it). Look forward to your results. Thanks again for your comments.

I bet you wished you had some great seeing but to fully utilize that focal length!

Thanks Gary.

Yes framing is unique and probably not for everyone, but that adds to the dimension. Time again we see posts of the same object framed identically as the next. Seeing a different composition provokes thought. Typically when I plan an imaging run, I play around in TheSky for a considerable amount of time...trying different FOV perspectives to target the object in a memorable or unique way. Yes, not much can be done about the seeing. You tried to harness the conditions and work with them. Long FLs are prone to it. Pleased you liked the image.

The thing that surprises me most though is that he managed to get that much data in Pingerley... the weather here in south-west WA has been so shocking for so long it seems...

Cheers Roger. Its a tough call how sharp I could make it. I love what deconvolution can do to data, but equally have seen what can happen if the data can't carry the desired iterations - very nasty. If you're careful with masking, you can really go hard providing the areas have good S/N, but theres a fine line of introducing features that aren't techically there - a trap for beginners. Yep, acquired from Pingelly. Agree - weather has been bad over there of late. Rather frustrating, but I'm making most of the current new moon acquiring RGB data for a couple of other projects from New Mexico. Keep in mind that some of the data acquired for the presented image was acquired back in September and October, so not as recent as one would think. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thanks RB. Was nearly tempted to not provide such a large resolution version. We all know that reducing the image size masks problems, but I felt it was worthy. I'm pleased I got some feedback to dial the image in further. Who knows, with fresh eyes I may work the data over yet again, but the presented version will suffice for now. Really pleased you like it mate. Thanks again.

Nice change, a pleasure to view.

Cheers Fred. Critisim...Ah yes, but its one of best ways to improve your output. While I strive to extract as much potential from the data, this focus can sometimes lead to overlooking different and often simple aspects of an image. Hence, I warmly welcome feedback - constructive is even better. Been thinking of breaking back into the realm of using CCDStack again. Was really impressed with some of the discussions at AIC, but its been sometime since I've used it so efficiency levels I'd imagine will be low...will consider it further. I'm hooked on Russ Cromans MaximDL plugin! Thanks for your comments - appreciated.

Great looking image, and one day when I understand photoshop better (I'm still struggling with 2 layers ) I will use the search function and read your posts again and pray that I learn something

Thanks Kal. Photoshop is reasonably easy once you understand how layers interact with one another based on blend modes and determine different mask types (you can do some rather ticky things with masks). I probably only use 30%-40% of its functions.

I've provided some good info in the past on PS processing - check out the PS tips sticky in the "tips, techniques..." section. I'll add more as I progress. Thanks for checking out the image.
