i love the variability of melbournes weather but some more clear skies would be nice...... i hate the heat with a passion...... must be my english blood.
As previosly said the nice weather we had a while back was burning off and smoke, now when we have clear skies it gets foggy .... its wearing a little thin.
Its all my fault.
I'm apologise to everyone in Melbourne.
I was told that a new scope=bad weather.
I bought a new scope for my birthday (late April) and the weather has all turned to carp ever since.
Have only had the scope out 14 times due to poor weather and some of these were pretty quick sessions.
As long as there is no rain and/or rain clouds, I try and get the scope out whether the conditions are ideal or not.

But the weather was crap since mid-March! So you can't possibly be blamed for this shenanigans.
slight, slight chance of hope tonight. Forecast says clearing to fine and partly cloudy afternoon. However, it also says 'Morning drizzle' tomorrow
What WILL happen is that it'll be clear at sunset, seeing will be 9/10, and so naturally all the horrible low drizzly cloud will rocket in before you can say ******* hell!
well the sky did sort of clear i managed a half baked run on the helix, got enough to put an image together but it was a bit jumpy, the seeing wasnt so great..... but i did see the stars ....they are still there, its comforting to know.
Skies were clear and transparency looked good, so I set up the 10", dug out the argonavis, got everything lined up and about 15 min after starting, a thick fog rolled in. Typical!
Oh wait, that bloody MELBOURNE FOG rolled in about 30 mins after I started anyway. SO SICK OF THIS FREAKING BLOODY CONSTANT DAILY FOG AND CLOUD ALREADY
SO BLOODY TYPICAL, SO BLOODY MELBOURNE WINTER TYPICAL AND FOR THE RECORD, SEEING WAS CRAP LIKE USUAL ANYWAY. WHAT AN ABHORRENT AUTUMN AND WINTER THIS IS. WORST IN HISTORY FOR SURE
I WISH MELBOURNE WAS IN A DESERT, LIKE MARBLE BAR OR EXMOUTH, SOMEWHERE AROUND THERE, WITH 250 CLEAR DAYS A YEAR
ANYONE WANT TO HELP ME SET UP AN ASTRO-VILLAGE IN THE PILBARA????
it has been a trying time, i started imaging last night - got 6 frames into it and ..... mist , fog , cloud..... whatever form of water vapour it was , ended it.
this is what it looks like now, fairly typical at the moment....
the lastest forecast shows showers added to days which were previously listed as "fine". Instead of 4 potential stargazing oppurtunities, we now have only 2.
youre right... we had three corker days in a row now only this
UV Alert: Nil , UV Index predicted to reach 2 [Low]
Monday Fine. Mostly sunny day. Min 5 Max 16 Tuesday Fine. Min 7 Max 17 Wednesday Shower or two. Min 8 Max 18 Thursday Few showers. Min 8 Max 17 Friday Shower or two. Min 9 Max 17 Saturday Shower or two. Min 7 Max 17
fine is an interesting concept that just means its not raining, shower or two is as vague as
id prefer something like cloudy in the morning with about 2 mm of precipitation clearing mid afternoon with clear skies by sunset..... why cant they be more specific. At least i could make sure im home early enough to get the gear set up before its dark
