Oh mama yep a F2 would be extremely nice ....still expensive and probarly the best camera ever made {well what ive read anywhy,sure would like to find out }

Another thought , when i recived my sct one of the first checks i did was for any skylight leaking through the baffle system . The effect of this would maybe something you described around brighter objects particulary the lunar surface . I dont know if this can be applied to a LX55 because of the different secondary configuration but the symptoms point to a inaccurate optical axis , with the fast F-ratio even if its minor missalignment its going to show . Hmm ill dig around for more info.

Northern skies

Thanks for the welcome folks
Yep... we do get good dark skies here mostly & we are fighting to keep it that way
The Whirlpool galaxy is at the limit of our useful northern horizon.
M31, M32, Cassiopia, Perseus & Ursa Major are all easy targets for us at this time of year.
we are a club of Aprox 60 folk young & Old, with a core of a Dozen or so keen members.
How do I do section on these posts to show the scopes we use up here (As you all have above)

I have in fact been able to see the 2 naked eye comets in the sky at the moment, the other is on the border of Carina & Vela.
I havn't checked K4 LINEAR out yet because of the weather, in the morning is looking good.

I might be able to combine my two favourite pusuits Astronomy & Hanggliding (at Eungella)
No problem Ian I'll share a telescope with you, but I think I'll just be a spectator with the Hanggliding Beautiful place Eungella.

Yep ... I'm on to that one, I am a semi regular contributor to that forum, they have gone a bit quiet there with the wet season having an earlier onset in Darwin.
I am the process of purchacing a nice 40mm Konig UO eyepiece from Phillip Smith, who is departing NT for SA soon !

Ian, you can use the "Attach file" button below, or if the picture is already uploaded to webspace somewhere, yuo can use [ img ] url [ /img] tags (without the spaces) to display it.

Just remember to keep the images around 60k or less..

Oh and you can create your own thread or reply to the other monster thread in the equipment forums to do it
