Is there still space for another camping site for two people on saturday night. I may head up with a friend see if i can get him hooked.
What time is the feast stupendous on would be nice to be able to be there for that but i'm not sure what time i finish working on saturday.
Yep still space for pitching a tent you are more than welcome. No drama what time you arrive there are signs out all weekend if you arrive after dark there will be 2 red flashing lights to mark the driveway in.
Many thanks to Darren and Ken and all at SVAA for a wonderful November camp! It was great to meet so many IISers and other astronomically obsessed folk. Even more fantastic to have come away having bought Tim Nott's superb 16" tri dob! Many thanks Tim. Now I'm not an emoticon user at all, but
Geoff, we had a few brief gaps on Friday night, but some long viewing sessions on Saturday with very good seeing, interrupted by short periods of thin cloud. Viewing finished about 2.30-3.00 on Sunday morning. So, some pretty good stuff and fantastic views through my new scope. I think the imagers had problems due to the intermittent cloud. Don't know how they went last night.
I've got some photos, but they seem too big to post, alas.
What an excellent weekend!!!
Magnificent sky's until the clouds rolled in but that did not stop us from catching up and having a good laugh.
Remus Chua from Singapore and Silvie (Silvinator) did their Talks on imaging and Dark matter which were very informative and very well done.
A special thanks must go to JohnG, Doug (Hagar) and Martin (mill) for taking the time to help and share their knowledge and tips. Thanks heaps.
And of course a big thanks to Ken (Ballarat Dragons) and Darren Wombat in space also for their help and for oganising such a great weekend.
Here's a few pics.
Cheers Daniel.
In a word - BRILLIANT! Sunset through "smiley face" to well after midnight was without cloud. Then various intermittent cloud until Ken and I were the last to pack it in around 4:30am

4.30! Woo-hoo! I'm glad you had such a good night.
Another Great SVAA Camp. The weather was a little on the ordinary side but all up the camp was a great success and a credit to Ken James and Darren (Wombat) for there hard work and organistion.
It was great to catch up with some old freinds and to meet a few new one who all have the same interests.
Well, I had a ball too! The cloud was a b it of a bummer but no impediment to having a totally terrific time. Ken and Darren rock!
A huge thanks once again to all who lent this struggling amateur their time and advice to get me up a running with a slightly modified set up.
Daniel, you are a star - admist your own troubles setting up you still gave your time to me willingly and happily - I simply couldn't have done it without you. And to everyone else who offered advice, comments and support a huge thanks too. It's so great to have a friendly voice wandering past in the dark ask how it's all going - so encouraging. Eric, you are a gentleman and time with you is all so enriching - thank you again from both of us.
I got a few photos I'm happy with but that damn focus proved to be my undoing - will certainly be rectifying that in the near future. I'll post once I've had a chance to edit them to size.
Anyway, that Snake Valley is very much a happy little valley in my mind. Ken/Darren, just book me in for the next 10 years!
