Never lost one yet, although one did go on a 2 month holiday once!
Admit that I do hold my breath until buyer says that item has been received.

When I first moved to Australia I lived in an area where we obviously had a bad delivery contractor, as many packages sent from both Australia and Canada went missing prior to delivery to us. Someone had an interesting collection of items at home.

At our present address we've had good service & we get on well with our delivery contractor, although there have been two times where I received one package in the morning, only to walk out to my mailbox later in the day and found a non-delivery notice form waiting for me for another package Both times it had the staff at the local post office stunned as well

About a year ago I sent my Canon 30D from Perth to Melbourne via Platinum Express Post - "Guaranteed Overnight Delivery by Courier by Midday - Signature obtained on delivery - Tracking withing Network"

Well, that was interesting. It first sat at the Perth mail centre for three days. It then got to Melbourne the next day where it sat for another day at the Melbourne mail centre. It was then delivered and signed for - but not by the person that I sent it to! It was finally recieved by the indented recipient 5 days after I posted it.

AP claimed that it was delivered by midday - they never said which 'midday'! And it was signed for! By someone...???

In the end they gave me another PEP satchel.

My parcel did turn up - after I was contained by the AP email response service responding to my complaint..... Was it just coincidence? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - but I must say that they were all smiles and very friendly when I went in to pick it up - they even jumped me ahead of 30 other customers to ensure I didn't have to wait!

I've got another parcel due next week...... I wonder what will happen then!

Cheers

I remember when I bought my LX200R, I first sent a bank cheque via registered mail to Bintel for the deposit and the remainder of the money via another bank cheque when the order was confirmed two weeks later.

Four weeks after that the scope arrived all safe and sound and then three weeks after that I recieved both confirmation reciepts for the two cheques that I had sent two months earlier. The date stamp confirmed the cheques had been received a couple of days after I had sent them but AP just had not bothered to post them back even after I had to write my address on them myself.

When I questioned AP at the counter they said that that happens sometime and I could put in a claim for a refund for the extra $2 I paid for having the confirmation reciept sent back. I did just to be be annoying and make a point. It's been two years now and I'm still waiting for the $4 refund.

It's things like that chip away at you faith in the system.

Cheers

Funny thing is...on a number of occasions I've actually been home all day when they've allegedly tried to make a delivery and left this note! No knock on the door...nada...zip...nudding!!! I have a dog that goes bonkers anytime anyone gets within 20 metres of the front door. It also didn't hear a knock

Onya Aussie Post. Onya.
This happened to me too. My parcel had tracking, so I knew when it was supposed to come, so I made sure I was at home. Later in the arvo, the "Sorry we missed you" came with the post.

I think the same ninja postman works my street too! I've never had a parcel delivered, it's always the 'sorry we missed you' note in the letter box.
The last time this happened was with a tracked parcel with the website listed the status as no one home. I'd been working in the front yard all morning - refitting the letter box as it happens. The next day I got the 'sorry ...' note in the letter box from the local postoffice
This means a 1 or 2 day delay and then walking to the nearest postoffice to pick the article up (no car). This is not too bad unless you're buying a bench grinder from eBay!

Did anyone catch the Current Affairs story on Wednesday night on post theft by Postal Staff..... Talk about coincidence..

I just love the way AP representative replied by putting blame back on the client and saying theft from post boxes is the problem. Yes - the thief now writes out a parcel receipt slip and pops it into your mail box! Yeah right.... (or maybe they were insinuating that their posties were to blame!)

they always deliver to me, and on time...

the only real complaint is that they deliver bills too
careful not to defame the organisation...

We have a terrific postie, even when we are not home he leaves our parcels beside our house out of sight and delivers letters back to the post office for us!
Only one parcel from the US went missing for 6 months, looked like it had travelled the world when it turned up but the contents were still intact!

I have never had one parcel delivered to me yet and i have bought laptops and all sorts of computer equipment, my local post office sends me a little card telling me it is at the post office waiting for me.

I am happy with that service as the local youth around here will steal your shoes if you stand still to long.

I would have to say TNT express is the worst, they damage stuff and lose it all the time, i am on a first name basis with the cliams department.

I have to concur with you. If you want something damaged get TNT to deliver it. If you sent a bowling ball by TNT it would be a cube by the time it got to its destination.

+1 on TNT. They are the cheapest & it shows.

My office mgr in China sends me stuff via China Express, & guess who the AU end is handled by. Yep, you guessed it.
I don't use the TNT 13**** ph number, I have the direct number for the dispatch desk at Hallam. Then I can ring & get exact details about MY package rather than dealing with a switch operator in sydney or Perth who has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about.
