I'm actually quite fond of both snakes and spiders. Get heaps of both out here. My 2 dogs were hassling a wolf spider one night so I chased them off and then tried to chase the spider with my hand. (i've done this lots of times with no problems.) Said spider wasn't in the mood for charitable acts and promptly leapt onto my finger. gripped with all 8 legs and stuck his fangs in. Didnt hurt much, but the ferocity of the attack frightened Hell out of me. Resulted in 2 small red marks on finger and intense itching for a week. Still like spiders though. Fascinating critters! Mind you, I shake everything, including my glasses, before I put it on.
PS. Did not kill spider. Anything gutsy enough to take on something a zillion times its own size deserves to live, in my opinion. (A bit like astronomers, really.)
