If you zoom into the picture you should see that it is slightly green and darker. But NASA should do this to prove if it is a rock or not i wonder if they could return to the same spot with the rover and see if it is still there then again they didn't take the picture recently and properly cant retrace there tracks.

The rock/rocks in question are only a few inches in size and only a few feet away. If they moved Rover back there again, Rover would only have to be about 1" too far to the left or right and the object won't look the same.
