Sorry to hear about your son Mick hopefully all will be o.k.
When the police come knocking on you door at that time of the morning you know there not selling ball tickets, but fortunately the news wasn't what you dread most. So if any of our kids browse these forums be careful and don't drive with idiots who have been drinking. The road is not a safe place to play.

best wishes
Manny

Best wishes to your son, you and your family, Mick. I hope all goes well.
My brother was run over by a car load of student teachers hooning in a cul-de-sac, so even the so called educated are pretty dumb at times.
Good luck and a speedy recovery to your son.

Brings back memories of my first (and only) attempt at taking my wife's daughter for a driving lesson. About 2 hours after getting her permit, she convinced me to take her for a drive. So I picked a quiet, wide road nearby and drove there. We eased out from the curb and within 5 minutes were wrapped around a tree...no injuries except the car...and tree!

It is now two years later and she went for her license a few weeks ago. She was rather unlucky getting stuck behind a reversing truck just after pulling out of the testing station. She sat behind the truck as it reversed toward the car until the instructot had to take over and move...instant fail. Maybe I am mean....but it was a little funny I must admit.

I think kids these days just believe they are invincible...

accident

I know how you feel, Mick. We've had the Police knock at the door. That was something we will never recover from though.
Last year we had Canberra hospital phone up on Sunday arvo to tell us that our son had just been admitted with broken leg (motor bike of course) He still has the titanium pin in to prove it.
Then blow me down, last week we had a 23 year old girl drive slap bang through one side of tour front garden and demolish two fences. Lost consciousness? Black out? boyfriend trouble?? NO NONE OF THAT. SHE WAS ON THE PHONE, wasn't she? Spent overnight in hospital and out with just cuts and bruises. Mind you it could have been the Holy water my wife sprinkled inside the ambulance that saved her....

Going to a friends daughters funeral (17 years) .. 3 died in total ..was so freaking sad .. so many young people there to mourn the loss of there friends words can't descibe it !!

Teaching my kids to drive I made the point of pulling up behind the local
police station to point out the wrecks in the yard .

hope he gets well soon .. way to many of our kids don't get that second chance
