That is simple Paul it acts as one long seat for sitting on. Greg just ask Ken, anyone is welcome anytime. I am not celebrating until it is all done. You will all be welcome.
Actually I was using poetic license. A Nun battered into me many years ago that chickens lay eggs but you lie or is it ly down. The rest is unclear as I was unconciouse due to her whacks. The use now is a total mystery as it all seems to be interchangeable.
Bert, will moisture rise from the ground and through the gaps in the decking, or have you sealed underneath. If not you could sand the decking and seal the joints with black sikaflex (like a boat deck) and finish with some clear then christen the construction the good ship avandonk.
The whole point with the decking is to allow air flow at all times even if the door is shut. I am going to install exhaust fans for the hot days. Moisture is not a problem in Melbourne if there is sufficient air circulation. I think a sealed floor would be worse for condensation build up.
I don't intend to leave any optics inside the POD when there is any chance of heat or moisture. I just want to be able to shut the door and go to bed at first morning twilight without moving equipment inside in case of rain. I also never leave the optic surfaces up in the morning as I have rather a lot of birds around.
I like it Bert, seems like it is coming along very nicely, I agree with you about the ventilation, I have circulating fans running 24 hours a day,7 days a week.
I would rather pay an extra 300 dollars a year for power, if that, or ruin a small fortune in equipment.
You are quite correct Leon. On a typical night no matter what configuration I have somewhere between 20K to 30k of equipment outside ready to be rained on.
The pod is cheap insurance against any weather related damage.
I thought that since I have expert help why not do it all properly.
Us old guys can do this only because we have already paid all the other bills.
I have helped some younger ones because I can and should.
Very true Bert, and isn't that a nice feeling. when it's Monday morning and you say to yourself, Oh, i think i will fiddle in the Observatory today, while the workers are bumper to bumper in traffic, been there and done that.
Yesterday drilled about a thousand holes and hammered in as many gal nails to properly fix the deck timbers. I am really surprised as there is only a slight twinge in my right arm this morning.
I marked out the exterior outline of the XL3 skyshed pod to get an idea of which configuration to use. All the bays at the back? I have not decided yet.
