Oh, heck, 'Nettie, I'm sorry to hear of your situation.

"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee..."

John Donne - 1624

That might sound somewhat maudlin, 'Nettie, but it's not meant to be. Even if we cannot be with you through this trial the members here have expressed their thoughts to YOU. Please think of them when you are feeling depressed about your lot. In other words you are NOT alone even though the connection is as tenuous as the cyberworld. I suppose that given your original post that's self evident anyway so I'm probably waffling on about something of which you are already aware.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support.
It really helps.
But I didn't post this to gain sympathy ( though it is nice ), I just wanted to spread the message of early detection and hopefully push a few people into taking a step in the right direction.

My operation, an abdominoperineal resection, is on the 27th of this month. Only about 3 weeks away. I will really need all your positive vibes sent out to me on that day.
Thanks to an early diagnoses I don't need Radiation treatment and I may not even have to have Chemotherapy. What a bonus!!

An adendum to my original post.
I've just realized that my doom and gloom prediction was wrong. Due to my attrocious maths I realise that it isn't 100 of us that will be affected, unfortunately it is more like 400 of us that will be touched.
All the more reason to be aware of down there.
