Thanks John,
I’m by no means an expert in the hobby so my help is limited somewhat , but if it makes a little difference then it’s been worthwhile
I never stop asking for help with this hobby , it’s very challenging at times
Appreciate your kind words
Alex and I have been chatting on the forum for many years now and I value his encouragement and wisdom not just with Astro but many things in life. He’s a very determined strong man and I tip my hat off to him

Cheers
Martin

Alex,
Thanks for your kind words , much appreciated

In regard to your images , have they been heavily cropped ?? as the presented image size of Helix is huge for your image scale
If it’s been heavily cropped then this will reduce resolution greatly
There seems to be a halo around the stars and main object
Some sharpening and Decon might tighten up the finer detail

Maybe just present the images in native image size and folk can zoom in themselves to explore

Anyway they are great images and colour is spot on

Cheers
Martin

Just need a few more hours tonight on my Helix ( total 5 or 6 hours ) and I will process during the week

Nice to see some clear moonless nights , really enjoying it

Thumbs down

Thanks for everything Martin.

Mega cropped would be an understatement Martin

First I reduced the sensor size to 2200 x 2200...and further because I wanted some form of dithering I accepted a poor polar alignment ( three auto guide cameras and scopes but none set up tsk tsk )...this had the object of interest wandering around the screen resulting in the need to crop so drastically... refocus also involved re centre of the object.

As you would be be aware, paricularly now in the process of capturing this object, it does not take up much room on an image from ZWO 2600 OSC ( or mono no doubt).

I went with the small sensor approach to speed things up on the one hand and to see how good I could resolve this object using my particular lucky imaging approach with the OSC. Moreover, even now in this particular stage for longer than expected, I am still setting up...I have yet to sort out flat frames to name just one thing that has me not really serious.. at the moment it is testing and mucking about...but I am learning stuff and most importantly having fun and no letting all these scopes and gear awaiting instalement and implimentation overwhelm me...To anyone looking at my progress they must think I am slack but without grizzling there is so much more I cope with that would be boring to share that really slows progress...but now that I have my new carbon fibre frame Walker watch out.

Thanks again.

Alex
