One minute a hero the next a joke. How quickly the american media forget, and they talk about the British media?
Stranger things have happened in the name of love.
I honestly feel very sorry for her.

Yeah - it’s always sad when you see a relatively ordinary person crash and burn in the public eye, as opposed to the professional attention seekers. The havoc it must wreak with their family, friends, etc.

Cheers

Says something about the NASA psycho analysis entry criteria.

But then they say a lot of the astronauts were never the same once they got back to Earth (go crazy, find religion, etc). Something about seeing the perspective of our insignificance in the bigger scheme of things.

Back on the more humourous side, if they had sent her on a long-term mission, ISS or whatever - and she went nuts and "eliminated" her companions, what a great movie it would make - real life sci-fi thriller.

I can imagine the stand-off of her in the ship/ISS, not allowing anyone/anything near her. While cruising off into the wild-blue yonder in squillions of dollars of machinery.

Something similar has already been written - I think is is "Stowaway to Mars" by John Wyndham. She finally eats the rest of the crew

I quite agree. Any number of kids hero worship these people, and set them up as role models. I can't imagine the pressure these people must be under to first gain and then keep their flight status' in NASA's space program. Enough to make anyone crack, and crack she surely did.
