I expect perhaps the 10x50 will be more of a compromise bino than the 8x40. They use the same prism housing. The 8x40 is fairly good wrt illumination of the FOV. It is also a great size for a finder pair, with a big true FOV showing 60% more sky per FOV than the 10x50, and an easy hand holdable 8x power. Good size for everyday use also - bushwalking, beach etc.

If you are going to go 10x50 you might as well fork out the extra $30 and get the WP model which will be a much better made bino than the WA. I've found the AOE guys Dan and Raff very good to deal with and honest about what they are selling and willing to answer all questions in detail. So do ask questions!

I've had excellent experiences with AOE. I highly recommend them.
