Hi Roger, I've used TPoint before, but not on an LX200. I've used it on a Nexstar 11 GPS. I haven't had the time to sort it out on the Losmandy Titan yet.

If what you have explained is indeed the core issue for the LX200, I'd be really surprised that the new LX200's don’t remember the encoder positions. Certainly the NX11 which is a few years old now, handled it well. It’s been a while since I've had it set up, but I recall getting a pointing accuracy across the sky of around 1.3 arc seconds.

I would certainly urge caution to anyone wanting to invest in pointing model software. Don't expect it do turn your mount into a magic digital pointing machine. It will greatly improve your accuracy, but will not turn twine into silk. Put bluntly, if you have a crap mount, spend the money towards a better mount instead of software to patch the pointing issue.
