In my experience, Matt has always been reliable with his charging and deliveries, so hopefully you'll have a new beaut DMK shortly.

Cheers

That's one helluva list of goodies. Do you have any lines that I could use to broker a similar deal with HRH (SWMBO)....

According to the oldtimers around here, they're predicting the drought to break next week.
See if you can prove them wrong. I wish you clear skies for when your new toys arrive.

Hi JJJ

I hope their bush intuition, or that "feeling in their bones" proves correct. I can wait a season or two for astronomy, a luxury the country folk can ill afford right now, for the much needed rain on the land.

Cheers

Dennis

Bugger it all, i want CS at night!!!

Only joking, I am a rural lad from long ago, may our water catchments become full, anything to stop the dumb Traveston crossing flooding and proposed dam from occuring, the Mary and GS straights are bound to suffer somewhat from the proposed dam.

Well here's the first arrival. It should be a bit of fun to use. The collimation was waaayyyyy out, but once it was roughly collimated (and I mean rough) the view wasn't too bad. The 12mm eyepiece that comes with it is easy to use, but a 20mm that I put in worked better. I'm thinking this is, again, more to do with the collimation.

It's nice and light and easy to use, though to change eyepieces you have to unscrew the existing 12mm and then thread the next one on. I see this as a benefit when working with school kids. They can't pull the eyepieces out and drop them.

Hey it's certainly not the hubble, but it will do what it's s'posed to do, easily transportable, low - medium viewing of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn and terrestrial viewing (yep it is right way up and right way around) for primary school kids.

Dont laugh at me but i have been interested in buying that same 3" reflector scope for my parents, who as grey nomads travel freely in their far ranging horse and cart. It is hard to buy gifts for them that are usefull and dont take up much space, and that wee scope is a possibilty. I would love to hear any reports on it before i get something for them, and cheap and cheerfull 60-70mm f6 refractors seem to be getting affordable now too..

Talking First half of the Solar Imaging setup has arrived

Ok, the PST has arrived. Just a bit of a wait now for the Solarmax 40 filter to screw onto the end.

This setup will basically be my Solar imaging setup. Baader film over the Orion for white light imaging of sunspots etc and the DS PST for surface detail and prominences etc in Ha all mounted on a study little EQ3/4 RA driven mount. White light will be capture with either the ToUcam 840 or the SAC 4.2 with the Ha with the DMK.

Might take some time out one day and get some better legs for that tripod though

Looks like we may actual have a clear night here in SE Queensland , might have to go out and flex the big Sigma lens.

JJJ that was a nice bit of rain on the weekend, quite a few places in the dam catchment got 40-80mm of rain. Unfortunately not nearly enough to break the drought (Dam levels rose 0.1% over the weekend ) as most of it soaked into the ground. Apparently we need 500mm to fall over the whole catchment in a short space of time to fill the dams.
