Alex, Decidedly unfair to assume a cash crop is growing in the hayshed. Could very well be a mung bean sprout UV hydro venture due to the rapidly declining price of beef (NOT!) I was looking around for real estate in Tabulam/Drake but ended up here, saw this place when visiting the grandies and fell in love with it! The Bruxner Hwy runs through some spectaular country. I also find myself in the embarrassing possession of 51 musical instruments. (This borders on hoarding rather than collecting) But seeing as I'm happily divorced I'll collect as many as I like. (I play all of them too..........badly!) Being in the scrub means no neighbours to complain of my endeavours. And speaking of ex wives, mine has developed a certain "pateenar".

I've seen people collect ' Salt and Pepper ' shakers .. no kidding .. wall to wall glass cabinets showing them all off.

Then there is the 11 year kid in Britain who collects Mowers ... mainly early century stuff

Not forgetting this also ... men who collect ' old Tonka ' toys and early ' metal cars aka Match Box Cars.

The most unusual collection I've seen is a garage full of ' Valves ' from early TV's and Valve Radios.... hundreds of them ... some very large to.

Then there's my oldest Sister who collects everything possible about Elvis ... she has a special room in her house adorned with posters / Elvis Dolls ( not blow up ones ) / Elvis Vinyl Records and such like....

I collected Stamps when I was a young boy, also Marbles and a few ' polished ' rocks ...!!

Col.

I have never heard of an inside out goat so I would love to see how they make bagpipes out of them.

Do you have a three string cigar box guitar.
I have been playing one for a while now.

When I got mine I thought they were rather rare but on utube as usual you discover a world of them.

Cut goat in half across the front of back legs. Turn inside out. Stitch across big hole just made. Blow in front left leg, chanter comes out of neck, drone out of right leg. Simples!.......Have parts sitting in office for three stinger (Weetbix tin, neck and tuners) just missing time to make. Love the three string concept though, hard to mess up a chord.

Cool!

Do you have, "Biggles Goes to see Bruce Springsteen," as told by Michael Palin, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD-LDqtN1qA ? <---- Adult Themes

Back on topic, I think the only things I have collected over the years, are Star Wars novels - have about 150 of them - and an ever-growing array of tools.

Everything else is replaced on a "dead-man's boots" ruling. One out, one in.

I would need brand new legs.

Watched the picker show tonight and they purchased a bear trap for $3000 +
Why would anyone wish to be reminded of such horrible disgusting cruel practice of trapping an animal in such a hidious device.

I didn't take much in and can't remember what else cause I was playing chess on my phone.

I don't think i fit the bill of a collector , have lots of stuff sometimes in small sub groups I refuse to use ,admire ,or get rid of ,, I think hoarder
is a better fit .

One strange group i came across collected antique tobacco , usually in pound tins or more many different brands and years ,listed with the reverence of a wine cellar , they would swap , and rehydrate the stuff to have a little smoke of now and then to !

At what point does a collecting pastime becomes a hoarding problem?

When I visited Washington DC a few years back, the History Channel seemed to alternative between American Pickers, Pawn Stars and something about gold mining. I don't recall seeing a single documentary on The History Channel during that short stay.

The amount of junk that people think worth collecting is just mind-boggling. I get that some things have their place in history, but really?

But who am I to call someone else's collection junk?

I used to collect rocks and minerals, but became to heavy to cart with me when I became semi-nomadic.

Handbags and shoes are a must if you're a girl...

Anything with astronaut Snoopy on it...

Decorative sticky tape, my latest oddball collection. I use it occasionally for packaging if it's space-themed or has a galaxy print and customers love it.

The more expensive of my collection hobbies are corals, especially the aqua-cultured ones that are very colourful. I buy them for $10-30 each, propagate them, then trade them with other collectors. Some people are willing to pay $200 or more for something the size of a pea, and amount of infighting among hobbyists over the value of a little coral polyp is insane! I just stick to what looks nice rather than what's rare. Bonus points if they're called something like "Black Galaxy", "Rings of Saturn" or something space-themed.

I don't actually collect any astro gear to use myself, but I do it on behalf for one of the clubs.
