Dave,
you need some serious instruction into a Woman's concept of great food.
BBQ's don't count. That is a man's job anyway, so it doesn't impress the ladies at all.
My Wife just laughed when I showed her the photo's.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are going to have to do way more than that.
PM me with her favourite foods and I will send you some recipes to get her juices flowing.
You are going to have to do it the hard way, on the stove, send her out for the day, then clean the house. That will impress her the most.
Then when she comes home, you should have a wonderful meal cooking, ON THE STOVE.
It's not that hard to do really, the effort to do it it is the key, Ladies appreciate that the most.
Candles are good on the table, to set the mood. Get the kids off to bed, if you have them of course.
Now we have a Romantic atmosphere, WOW, something not done since after marriage in most cases.
Go for it. and you can have anything you want.

Mike.
Forgot to ask Mike, was my presentation skills OK, you know the face on the plate? as for romance I have the radio on and she waslistening to the legends of rock whatever with johnno coleman....and I had wine.....and plenty of pepper, she loves that!

Houghy,
Did it work?
I doubt it!
Good effort though.
I have learned a lot of things after 32 years of marriage, to the same person even.
No 1, is REALLY impress your spouse with your domestic skills.
No 2, is watch some cooking shows, and copy them.
Cleaning the house is a great start, especially with a bad back, but cooking and serving a delicious candle lit meal, will score you way more points on top of the cleaning. She will be putty in your hands.
Just say, "sit down and relax Dear, would you like a glass of wine?,Dinner will be ready soon".
Oh, and don't forget to ask how her day was, and listen to the answer.
Be attentive to her needs, not just for that day though. Repeat it and the World is your Oyster.
Thats all it takes.
Good luck.

Mike.

sort of, other conflicting priorities have pushed my agenda to out of frame, but within a few weeks it will be back, with a vengeance

hence the BBQ - not really cooking and for cleaning, she knows better, after 13 years that is the only thing I have taught her - I am hopeless

Oh Dear Houghy, I forgot there are ladies of the Female persuasion on this Forum.
Maybe we should have a Male only thread, Nah, they would complain. Don't even think it. LOL.
My Sister burned boiled eggs once, you can cook better than that, I saw the pics.
How about this advice then.
Save up in a secret bank account.
Nah, that won't work either, when she finds out you'll be in more trouble.
What's left....Win the Lottery.

Take a leaf out of Dr Phil's Books.
Marriage is a partnership and take it in turns to get what you want.
After she gets the new house with all the mod con's and it is paid for, you can have the observatory next.
Good luck.

Mike
