Love the pictures Ispom, but after living with Manx cats I always find it strange to see cats with long tails. Velcro has no tail.

cheers

I cannot imagine,
how make a cat large jumps without a tail,
it is the balancer after all..

Hi Ispom, the Manx's hind legs are larger than other breeds of cat to compensate for the lack of tail and they are able to achieve a tremendous amount of lift when they jump or spring. When Velcro was younger he could easily reach the top of a 1.9 metre fence from a standing jump.

Manx's also have larger paws and are very surefooted which I think helps them compensate for the lack of tail. Also because of the large hind legs their running action is similar to that of a hare or rabbit.

cheers

kangaroohs do have yet a big tail….
whatever,
here all cats have a tail

Hi Ispom, the Manx originated from the Isle of Man in the Northern hemisphere.

ah, now I see the origin of the name…

I don’t know what a pedigree or family tree my cats have
beyond the 5th ancestor,
when I get 2 cats for my children 25 years ago,

pictures from it I must scan to show you,
because a digicam I had until Susi, the grandchild from the first:

Hi Yani, your black kitty possibly has the most intense eyes that I have ever seen, very piercing.

cheers

Thanks, Ric. They aren't actually my cats. They are my friend's cats and it happened to be in our photos folder. The black kitty eyes actually are bit scary. I feel spooky whenever I look at her.

The other night, for some reason, Kitty thought the Christmas tree was posessed.
She was absolutely freaked out, growling and backing away. After a bit she settled on the sideboard staring at it.
