Well done from me.
I am happy that I got to see it.
My TV has terrible reception but came thru perfect.
Of course would have liked to see more...er hear more of that singing...
I wished I they had showed longer and more of your gear etc.

Here ya go: http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2...zen-scientists

How cool is 15 year old Georgia the underwater girl...two diametrically opposite ends of our Universe covered

Oh and you need to watch the whole piece as they swap back and forth between us (and others) along the way .

Nice shoot Mike. Great to see the media giving citizen science the credit it deserves and well deserved credit for you.

Congratulations

Hi

You came across well, and your singing is far better than mine!

Congrats

I thought they could have made more of how rare it is for such a discovery.

Glad it was a bit of fun to watch guys I thought The Producer Una Butorac did a very nice job in the end condensing hours of footage into 6.5min, the mix and sentiment of the piece was spot on really and Pete the camera man did a fabulous job too, setting up timelapses, dealing with the crazy varied lighting etc and was all done on the trot, very professionally capable that's for sure, must have been just as challenging or more so out on the water at Narooma with Georgia.

As for the singing..?..well, t'was only s snippet (with no beer and no warmup ) Una tweeted a longer version after the show went to air though

Who know's what will be next.....

Si Joe

This is the sort of thing that getting media attention can do...being a bit of an ambassador for young people to think about astronomy and space is a fabulous feeling, even better than when I was able to demonstrate, to thousands of kids who watched my strongman exploits over the years, that amazing feats of strength are possible without performance enhancing drugs, just hard work and tenacity can produce the goods.

So can we expect to see you on the voice?
I can see the act...singing to a pretty Lady as you hold her above your head.
You may want to put the idea to one side but such an appearance could give opportunity for promotion...she would need to be holding a scope maybe.
It is great to see you give such a good example to folk.

Thanks but you need to be holding that pretty lady up to make it work. I don't know if you are any good or not but the type of person you are suggests you are probably singing well.
What do folk who know think?

Nice one.
And the 15-year old girl is sort of your younger want-a-telescope-peeping-tom self.

Well done Mikey, you big media tart Congrats, mate. Hopefully, you'll encourage a few more young folk, or even older ones, to have a go at astronomy

Watched the other night with great interest. How many degrees of separation is it when you belong to the same forum as a famous person?

"that amazing feats of strength are possible without performance enhancing drugs,"

And what’s this about not using performance enhancing drugs? You quite openly confess your love of beer as do I. Oh sorry you were talking about your sporting career, not the singing.

Seriously though. Well done Mike. Would love to have seen more. You have proven to many amateur amateurs (beginners) here such as myself that amazing discoveries can be made by anyone with a bit of dedication and a love of something.

Cheers Brendon thanks for the nice words, glad you enjoyed the piece and yes indeed, in small to modest quantities, beer is certainly a performance enhancer, kinda loosens one up a tad... but after that, there can be a significant drop in performance if one is not careful ... Nusing Doormaeee hic!.....
