The hidden variable I have would be the recent introduction of LED street lights. I just can't seem to filter that stuff out. I need min of 40 percent more subs just to get near what I could two years ago. There is just random speckle across the image. Very hard to combat.
I guess it's a preference, but I would rather see a bit of noise than to artificially smooth out the image at the expense of losing of all the small details and stars. Not a fan of the plastic look. Again, it's all preferences and pretty pictures.
