Whilst I feel for the OP in this situation, seems that a total breakdown in communications has occurred, I had a South Australian supplier send me two brand new Japanese refractor telescopes recently, total value in excess of $9000.
The scopes arrived in great time, well packaged and without me having sent any advance payment, I was merely told the invoice would be in the parcel. Go figure???

Further, a Victorian supplier often cited here on IIS recently sent me a Nagler 31mm, which arrived quickly but the condition was not quite as described. When I mentioned this to him, he very quickly forwarded a refund of my payment to my bank account and then told me to keep the Nagler !!! (whilst I appreciated his generous offer, I subsequently sold the Nagler for its proper value and forwarded the money to the supplier )

We don't have too many suppliers in this country for this fringe hobby of ours, lets not crucify them over one bad dealing.

The South Aust. supplier Matt is referring to, once sent me a Russian 6" Mak to try out, with no money changing hands-that's a lot of trust!

That's how we should all operate, on both sides of the equation..

I also had overwhelmingly positive experiences with SA supplier. But we're all human, have bad days/weeks..., can think and act irrationally and make stupid mistakes.

Hope OP George's issues are resolved promptly.

A South Australian supplier whom I had ordered an expensive telescope from asked how I wanted to pay for the additional items I was thinking about (several thousand dollars worth of accessories).
When i told him I had no more money his response was "Well, i'll put them in the post with the scope anyway. You can pay me off as you get the money." Amazing trust I thought.

Just for information there is more than one South Australian telescope/astro supplier. Obviously the original rant is aimed at one of them. I reckon I can guess who it is as I have had issues as well with this supplier. The other person who I have dealt with is excellent and will go out of his way to help.

That is undeniably extremely generous, warm spirited and trustworthy - but NOT great business practice imo, and he is asking for trouble (eventually) conducting business like that.

There are better ways to look after your customer in my opinion that don't pose such huge risk to your own business.

Usually "charitable" businesses like that don't have a very good relationship with their suppliers.

Suppliers tend not to have good relationships with dealers who don't pay their bills on time, if at all.

Speaking from personal observation.
