Still can't access the Andrews links using Chrome.
It says DNS server's address could not be found.

That's strange. All working here in Chromium and Firefox. Try firefox and when installing be sure to say NO to import settings, bookmarks, etc from IE (or any other browser).

I've had it for now Steve, having just got through changing all my passwords
for Chrome, which didn't have them stored of course.Any other site,
including Bintel[which I visit much more than Andrews] is fine, just not
Andrews. If IE and Chrome can't get on, why should Firefox be able to?

Judging from what you've said and tried Raymo it's unlikely to be a problem at your end. Could be your ISP has been blocked by Andrews server.

Hi Iain, I now also think that there is nothing wrong my end. Any idea why
Andrews' server might do that? At least I've gained a faster browser out of the experience. I can't imagine that I've done anything to upset Andrews.

Hi Raymo
I have the same problem as you, I am with iinet can't get the site on my phone telstra i can, This to me thinking that my isp (iinet) has been blocked on what ever server Andrews is using to host.

cheers

Graeme.

Hi Graeme, all this stuffing around for nothing. I'm with Westnet, which
was bought by iinet a while back. Thanks.

Yes, dropping internet explorer is only a good thing

In short, for context... servers tend to be shared resources. The server where the Andrews site is hosted may have perceived a threat from a server that your ISP uses or visa versa. For example a large spam send from a hacked email address.

It won't be anything you've done and it's unlikely to be anything to be concerned about, just and inconvenience.

Yep, best thing to do is to give Lee a call or an email and explain your issue.

He'll then have to get in touch with his hosting provider who will then have to deal with iiNet and get the block removed.

Not here in Melbourne, Firefox 45.0 for Linux Mint. Also pings fine:

Code:

PING andrewscom.com.au (45.35.56.154) 56(84) bytes of data.

That is real odd, here is my result. I used the cmd prompt
However if I ping the IP: 45.35.56.154 it finds it and sends and receives packets..

It must be a location (not OS or browser) dependent thing. I just tried from a Windows 7 machine and can access the site no probs.

Sounds like some DNS issue. I am ignorant about networking stuff so that's as far as I can vaguely figure... Contacting Andrews would be a good idea.

Yeah Steve it has to be a dns issue, I used the cmd prompt to ipconfig flush dns which it did, (re-booting should do the same thing), but it made no difference. I am using a Windows 7 pro 64bit desktop as well.
Just tried it on my windows 7 laptop with same results. Strange to say the least.

Andrews still manage to fully support and repair the Celestron gear they sell while making a profit. The reason they can do that is because Celestron totally rips off Australian customers with exorbitant pricing.
