If you would like an eyepiece that would simplify your travel kit consider the Celestron 8-24 zoom. This is probably my most used eyepiece in my Meade ETX 80 refractor and my Orion XT8i dob.

This plus a 2X or 3X barlow for the travel scope and you are all set. I use it with a 3X most of the time in the Meade ETX 80.
