Congrats on APOD as everyone has said you must be popping the champagne. I finally got a decent set of images of this comet tonight cant seem to get the blue in the tail any tips from the comet Jedi master?

Thanks Luis! If you stack in DSS like a lot of us do, then you need to put the colour back in that DSS has sucked out. I use a lot of curve stretches in Photoshop and that sucks out even more colour. To compensate I wind up the vibrance and saturation sliders until noise becomes a problem and then back off a bit (in image / adjustments / vibrance). How much to put back in is subjective. I like fairly strong colour.
Another way is noiseless colour for photoshop as described in the video, or use a combination of both. Be careful of colour gradients when doing this.
I often flat field and balance the background colour with the "image / apply image" technique after. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fg-xSVz6vg
Yes, a great shot of this comet Kevin very cool structure, I like straight tails that diverge sharply like that, Comet Hale Boppwas similar, looks lovely on APOD too
Congratulations on the APOD Kevin. We're so proud of you.
Thanks Jeanette!

Mike
Thanks Mike! Yes the two tails that contrast with each other are the most interesting. I was surprised when I saw the first subs.

Thanks Derek! Unfortunately it has been raining like it was summer. Next possible semi-clear night is Saturday but then we have a 62% Moon which makes the faint tails hard to detect.
Not saying I had anything to do with it, but I had sent this tweet

Hi Luis, For colour balance I use whatever setting makes the background neutral. This can change with the Moon (Moonlight is blue) or light pollution (Orange).
DSS I only use to stack, I don't do any processing with it. All processing is done with Photoshop.
In your case, as someone mentioned you may find taking flats will help with the hotspot and vignetting. Nice shots by the way.
