Oh crap looks like I misread that, they are only going to cover 10 events of the 20, what a bunch of wackers...They are seriously shooting themselves in the foot with this effort.

By my understanding, 10 will be a live simulcast and the other ten a delayed highlights package, i.e. rubbish coverage of pretty much anything but the front runners and incidents. I reckon for a "Highlights" package they will cram it in to a standard 45 minute format, probably at about 4 in the morning so they can get an extra "reality" show in for the day.

I stopped watching commercial television years ago.

Everything I care to watch is available either live streaming or as a torrent and without all those annoying interruptions loaded with advertising.

Are they really so clueless that they can't put 2 and 2 together?! Here's a clue:if you don't broadcast it on FTA, people without Pay TV won't be able to watch it!
I think you have misunderstood Bernie's business model.
He doesn't see you as a customer, he views you as a product. The formula 1 circus is simply a contrivance employed to acquire 2 hours of your time where your emotions are tied to some arbitrary outcome. The commercial rights are in effect a right of access to your attention (which he sells to the highest bidder)
In essence, his only care with respect to the size of formula 1's fan base is the extent to which it influences the value of those rights. Fox has a fraction of the viewers, but they are prepared to pay more. And that is the bottom line.

Some of us rather enjoy that, plus understanding all the tactical stuff going on in the background at the same time. Though I will admit to that being lessened with the creation of the current tyres to "Spice up the show"

I have never ever been sold on rules specifying that you MUST use two different types of tyre in a race, and designing those tyres to be several seconds apart in pace and also with characteristics as they wear out that would ensure you never bought a second set if you had tyres that behaved like them on your road car. Though F1 is not alone in that particular silliness.

It's all about money and it's pathetic.

It probably won't be long until they show less of AFL or Cricket the way this is going.

And amateur astronomy is "only looking at stars", but some of us enjoy that with a passion too!

They did this with the V8 Supercars and I doubt it will stop with F1. Money hungry parasites. The V8's were just becoming interesting again with international car manufacturers.

really the only positive of losing fta v8sc (less so as its on mainly in the day) and f1 is hopefully some more time to spend under some clear night skies
bugger a 45 min replay 24hrs later, I couldn't think of a worse way to butcher f1 or v8sc it going back 20 years when nien would broadcast the races days or weeks after the event lol.

We get Bahrain, Russia and Abu Dhabi at the expense of Silverstone, Monza and Suzuka?

What is going on with the world. First I basically lose my Motogp and now F1 as well. Is there nothing sacred in this world anymore. I think that there is more going on here. Our way of life that we have known for so long is being sucked up away from us at a rapid pace.

Foxtel You suck and you'll never see my dollars.

Oh well. Goodbye to you all F1. Goodbye Motogp. I'll be outside actually doing something with my life on weekend nights.

With all the flavors we can taste why is everyone so salty?

This is great news for people with Foxtel already. Now, I can watch it all in one place with V8's, Moto GP and now F1.

Weather it's people who don't have Foxtel and will now miss out or people that have it and will benefit from the change isn't really the issue. Fox and Telstra as well as 10 will all benefit from it, not the viewer.

The fact of the matter is and what seems to be happening everywhere in this country, is called Greed.

If you can't afford Foxtel, then you are not the cashed up audience Bernie is catering for.
