My sympathies and condolences go out to Peter Brocks family friends and fans. He was an Aussie racing legend and icon who will be sadly missed.

The only thing I can find to make it managable is he like Steve left this place whilst doing no doubt what he enjoyed. It reminds us that death has no respect for fame.

After Sydney radio station 2GB requested that drivers (including me) turn on their headlights as a sign of respect, nearly every car on the Hume Hwy home (68km trip) had their lights on within 5 minutes. He was very well loved and respected indeed.

R.I.P. Peter. Jenny's and my thoughts are with Bev and your family.

Yep, even your bitter rivals across the ditch are in shock, Love or not, they were two top Aussie icons, and will be sadly missed.

No not Brocky too , I have meet him several times over the last ten years he was one of the nicest people I have met. I have to work out how I am going to tell my daughter shaylee as he was her favourite driver she met him at indy on the gold coast.

My deepest sympathy to the family

Just heard on current affair that that tree has claimed 8 motorcycle riders in the last few years as well. I think something needs to be done about that piece of track.

Terrible terrible news, he was a great ambassador for the sport.

A true legend.

It will probably be renamed Brock Corner to remember him.

Very sad, like most 40 something's I grew up watching Brocky at Bathurst.
Like Steve Irwin though, he died doing what he loved.

Brocky will be sadly missed.
One of the true greats of motor racing, his Bathurst exploits are the main reason there is a Torana SLR 5000 in my garage.

Gone but not forgotten

Very sad news. "Brocky" was always the hero in our house. I remember watching him spend ages patiently signing autographs for kids and adults alike at his farewell race at Malalla.

I'm right with you there. My "hero" car of the late 70's, early 80's - and I watched Brock dominate everything in them. A good friend of mine still has an original A9X in his garage. Like yours, it is a classic.

I heard the news on my way home last night, it was a long and somber 3 hour drive home for me. RIP Brocky.
