Can you fill me in on how a flattener works, where it fits. Is it only for refractors do I need to use it on my dob?
Can you suggest and good reasonably price one and where to buy.

It inserts into the 2" focusser barrel and it ends in a male T-thread to thread on your camera adapter. Optically, it somewhat flattens the field (since field curvature is directly related to the focal length of refractors). The WO flattener 6 would only be suitable for the scope it was made for (WO series refractors).

For your 80mm f/5...try Bintel or Andrews, they should know of a compatible one, and at that focal length you'd probably want only a flattener.
