Bruce!

That's a typically Aussie name.

There is an Aussie way of saying "Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen" and it is "G'day Bruces and Shielas".

Welcome to the Land of Oz via the net. Enjoy ya stay 'anddontforgettheaerogard'

Hey Bruce,

I just did a 'Google Earth' on your town. Looks like your town is surrounded by Farmland. Hope you get some dark skies.

Hey Bruce, welcome! I guess you've got relatively fine and warm weather up there this time of year, unlike the rain and clouds I'm battling here.

... now I wonder where that map has gone showing the distribution of Ice In Space members across the globe...

Roger.

I was thinking along the lines of octopus/octopi. You know me, I certainly wasn't being serious

I do latin every day but only to drive horticulture students up the walls

Actually, octopodes is the plural of octopus from the Greek....but perhaps I am becoming a tad pedantic.

Ken, how right you are. Lots of farmland and lots of light pollution too. On a good night I have mag 4.5 skies. Better to the north and east though.

Do you remember the old Credence Clearwater song "stuck in ol' Lodi, again"? Well that's up the road just a bit.

Pity about the mag 4.5

I am fortunate to have 6.5 were I live. My little country town has a population of 250 and we are 100 miles from the city of Melbourne.

I love hearing the 'oooohs' and 'aaahhhhs' when Amatuer Astronomers come here for the Astro camps.

No songs written about my town of 'Snake Valley'.
