whatever you did to the scope was worth the effort, that's a beautiful image. the repro has lovely subtle colour and effortless fine resolution - great work.

Thanks Ray!

Actually all the mods were inspired by what you did to your 200mm astrograph.
I couldn't believe the detail that was coming from yours, I know your CCD was a good match but I figured any improvement mechanically would have to be worth it.
I'll post some images later of the mods, but mainly it's just washers.

Still have to sort out some minor balance issues and guiding yet, but at least I'm heading in the right direction.

Cheers,

Justin.

What setup will you be running?
Look forward to your result.

Cheers,

Justin.
Thanks Justin, the EQ8 and 12" newt. i haven't had the time and or weather to get it up and running at all yet, I had issues with the old synscan firmware pointing completely in the wrong direction etc plus a few other teething issues.

Getting closer to being able to take a picture but progress has been slow. But now thanks to Richard's recent posts in the DIY observatory i will likely get the absco pool pump cover 'observatory' http://www.simplysheds.com.au/garden...s-c-11_43.html which should free up time in setting up to fine tuning - fingers crossed i've only had the mount for a year. at this stage just a 600d, i have been considering a mono but with this weather i don't think i'd ever manage to finish a picture so am leaning back again toward the cds-600d.

cheers

Yep,

This winter has been full on!!
Hope you can get your setup under cover, certainly makes imaging a lot easier.
Planning on sliding roof or moveable shed?
Should be able to get some good images with a 12" Newt, some of the best images on this forum are from 12" scopes.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Justin these little sheds seem to be find of the century as they are built with the roof designed to flip open backwards - no modification necessary (apart from sealing etc). they are small so no standing room but will house the scope snuggly. Thanks - yes that's the plan!!

Cheers
