I agree entirely mate, although a few bucks your way for using your ideas is considered polite if someone else makes a lot of money from it. I studied engineering after being out of school for 11 years so I'd some experience to throw at it, mostly military and mechanical. While I was always able to come up with a good solid solution, I was always striving for the more elegant, simple and good looking solution. I still do but I have been permanently retired since 38 and have only recently been able to start doing things again.
Qualifications mean only so much to me, what you can actually do says a lot more. Some of the students getting the highest results were not the ones I'd choose to solve problems. Not to say they were all devoid of common sense but some of those lacked all ability to understand some basic concepts. Advanced design was an exercise in frustration. We wasted so much time explaining basics.
No worries with the car stuff. Everyone can have an opinion or a bit of fun and getting upset over what someone posts on a forum is counter productive. How boring would it be if we all liked the same things? I'm here to learn and to find common ground where I can. I never seem to choose hobbies and interests with a shallow learning curve but I like to learn from enthusiastic and interesting people. For a long time the internet was my only contact outside of home, you make of it what you can. It saved my sanity while I was laid up.

And thanks Geoff. I never worry about the money..I deserve it and it flows to me without effort..well it should because that is my command for my universe.
The net is a wonderful thing ..I mean how good is it that we can have a chat like this. I have faced and managed cabin madness but at 38 you probably felt life had dealt you a crook hand..but you have no doubt got thru it and you certainly are interesting to talk to..I look at the bright side cause thats all you can do. Had an interesting life and thete is still more to come..thats great isnt it..and I figured out that personally eacj of us is on the planet upon our undestanding for an eternity because we dont know it when we arrive and as far as I can tell we dont know when we depart..so I see my lifee as eternal..others may notice I have left but of course I will not know that...Works for me ..the only small fear I entertained was losing control of bladder and bowells but even that no big deal just have to adjust. They took the pain killer away so its starting to hurt . I get up tomorrow so I may get an idea of how good I am...anyways I should know the hand I am playing and I will cherish the new certainty. Best wishes alex

Thanks Chris for the encouragement. I am trying to move the nurse says I cant hurt the wound but after seeing a photo is scares me to be honest. Anyways she has got me on my side but has had to go down the hall so I am moving the stuff I can to be flexible when she returns. I have been in the one poss for days. Stopping the pain killer that I gave myself was a good idea I was somewhat hookedin 24 hours I was happy not to move but now I cant wait . Anyways thanks everyone for the support encouragement and kind words I am about out of credit so I will be off the air until I get a recharge. They should have them downstairs this week if I can get down
And a certain someone is now updated I expect so its all good. Best wishes to all

Movement is life Alex. They had me up and walking in a frame 30min after waking up from an 8 hour double disc fusion. That really hurt but it was necessary. Best wishes for getting on your feet.

Good to hear you can get on the internet, while on the mend-it will help you.
There was a bloke on another forum, who fell off his roof, and was in a bad way, looked like he had had it for good,12 broken ribs, very bad head wounds etc etc.Somehow he came good and started to recover,we all pitched in and gave the family some coin so they could get him a lap top in hospital with internet. It really seemed to help, amazingly he not only walked again, but got back into his interests of hunting,I knew him a bit before his accident, but after chit chat got to know him more, eventually his family brought him up from Brisbane, and I took him out for a hunt of some deer, and he got one,he was so happy. Was good to see an amazing recovery from someone on life support, that was not going to walk again,to be out doing what they love.Must have been a tough old bugger all the same. One of his eyes was ruined, and he re made all his rifles so he could use them again.

Alex, just got your Pm, sorry to hear you are in hospital mate, those socks may be a pain, but they are better than blood clots (been there - had those on warfarin now) had a whole 24 hours in hospital before they scanned and found them. I am just recovering from mixing and laying 2 tons of concrete as a foundation for a new conservatory, my back is now feeling better than it has done for ages - through continued use, keep your spirits up, it helps recovery, a work friend of mine is still learning to walk again, she had a bad car accident, broke her neck and spent 3 months in a coma in intensive care- and then a further year in hospital until the broken neck healed, that was back in 2010, she is still one of the happiest people I know, and is determined to ride her motorbike again. through practice she is up to about 400 yards now in the walking stakes - all through the years forced immobility.
All the best and get well soon.
Grendel

It's all a matter of desire and determination. After the 7th surgeon turned me away saying he couldn't help I thought it was time to stop my pain and misery. I was on massive doses of pain relief, had trouble with memory and concentration, difficulty seeing and spent years on a couch. Going anywhere meant constant falls and pain. I was sick all the time and constantly getting admitted to hospital with intense pain that only injections of morphine and pethadene could reduce, but I was now allergic to them so each injection was like a heart attack. They had even had me on ecgs a number of times they were so concerned. I couldn't comprehend or accept years living like that. I was lucky to have a mate recommend a young Neuro that had helped his Mum and friends, and he was the answer. The tests needed to isolate my problems were excruciating, but they found the problems and allowed him to operate. I'm improving but it is taking time.
Alex, pm me your number and I'll top up your credit mate. Save you trying to escape past the guards or going out the window on your bed sheets

I have cleaned the box out but deleated recent messages so send me another pm please and anyone else please send another pm. David yours is gone and i have yet to see your stuff.
To Geoff. Thank you for your kind offer but I was shut out and only saw your post now. Happily a mate called in with a credit so I am back.
They do another angiogram tomorrow to see if the flow is seeking another path. I am in good hands they follow my instruction to the letter.
I have some alarming photos of the open surgery but i wont post them..tomorrow just before dinner sounds best time for maximum impact...maybe not.
Mate called in bring the young lady back tomorrow. I mentioned her I think if not I will have to later. Goto go for my injection in my fat belly. Bye for now
