starlight

That's a bit of a worry.
I just got an email saying mine is being shipped so I hope this is accurate. Have been waiting, like you, for months.
That's the third focuser I have ordered from Wayne and this is the first time I have had any issues with them.
Maybe a supplier issue to their machine shop?
Hope it all works out for you Ken
Keep us posted.
Graham

Didn't Starlight have a change of ownership a few years ago? Sounds like they have some serious issues. Sorry to hear of your plight Ken

Wayne is a really nice guy, and has always been very helpful with all the stuff I have asked for. Even though they are famous for making great focusers, they are still a relatively small operation with tight margins and they just can't carry unlimited stock. They do machine things up as they get orders, so it's generally not lying around waiting on the shelf. Far from going under, I think the reason for the delay is the peak summer season in the US means they are rushed off their feet. Plus they have many contracts to supply focusers to the premium Dob builders, and he probably concentrates more on them than individual orders.

None of that helps you in your situation after you have shelled out the dollars, but I am sure it will have a happy ending. Then you can sit back and enjoy your beautiful new feather touch. BTW, is it the SIPS that you ordered? That setup is perfect for your Dob.

In the mean time just waiting to hear the good news....

I have dealt with Wayne and Starlight Instruments several times and never had a problem always very good service and quick response too. Their gear is first class I wouldn't have anything else on my scopes. I'd be more than happy to cut them some slack if they were going through a tough period. We're actually lucky to have such top quality gear available to buy, I don't think they are going to retire on the millions they're making by cornering the focuser market.

Sorry for my alarm.
It has been my experience that the concerns raised heralded folding of the firm and therefore loss of monies paid.
I will be happy when Kenny posts his first images with perfect focus such that the worry I felt was justified we not justified???
