Well, I went to Lesters place yesterday to try to help with this problem, but we only got as far as viewing the raw images on the computer with no options that we could see to transfer the pictures to his computer or to convert the raw's to any other format.

Lester, I talked with Warren (a WAACer), who has a similar camera & he suggested that if taking RAW, you must use manual settings only. If in Auto, it will not allow D/L of RAW images. You can select the modes to use on your camera.
If you require a 'walk thru' he is willing to do that on phone. Let me know if this is O.K. & I will PM you his number... L.

Hi RAJAH,

It is fixed. Rang canon today and hung on the phone for 45 minutes, and the chap was able to help me. So I got my images onto the computer. Just tried to post one image onto IIS and couldn't do it, couldn't get past the manage attachments let alone select an image. Don't know what is going on. From one gremlin to another.

But thanks for your concern with my images, and to the others who posted on here to help me a big

THANK YOU.

Shooting in RAW is a HUGE advantage over JPEG.

Jpeg is 8-bit, whereas RAW is 16-bit. So you have a lot more dynamic range and no compression whatsoever. When you capture in RAW, you can convert it to 16-bit TIFF for manipulating in photoshop, and then finally convert it to 8-bit jpeg for saving to web for display.

If you take it as JPEG, you're throwing away data before you even start. Of course RAW takes more time, bigger files, etc, but if you're serious about your photography, it's the only way to go.

John...I felt the same way when I first started to do digital imaging...I could not see a huge difference between both Jpeg and raw but once you get into the finer art of processing raw is the only way to go...like Mike said too much detail is lost through Jpeg....why let your camera decide what to keep and what to not because thats what your camera is doing..it's saying what can we compress and get rid off to save space.
