Thanks Lee I am not actually checking for SN at the moment. I should at least do that on the galaxies I photograph every night, but just never seem to find the time.

I am jumping around feeling "over the moon" today!! had a huge win with my automation this morning before work

For a long time (probably ever) I have had pointing error troubles where objects are not centred. Plate solve sometime has solved it but not recently when I have been using J2000. Frustrating!

This morning I found it .. I finally solved it so I have perfect pointing! The problem: my automation scripts are produced by my database in MS Access. The export that creates the script has been exporting RA and Dec with only 2dp!!! all this time!!! For some objects this is fine but others it results in seemingly unpredictable pointing errors. Stupid microsoft export forces 2dp, the work-around is to format as string having forced it to the required 6dp. Ahhhh. such bliss.

Glad you found out what was driving your solving off a bit. Wish you all success with your program and am awaiting your announcement of a first SN
Allan.
