Thanks for the information Chris. I do do most of it already, but there
were a couple of points that should be invaluable.

First galaxy offering. No prizes for which one. 8x 30secs @ 3200.
DSS only.

2070 this time. 4x 30secs 3200 + 2x 45secs 6400. Having fun
playing with sliders. This bears magnification well.

Excellent work Ray!!!!

That NGC253 is fantastic and MUCH MUCH better than some of my early ones. At least I hope it is NGC253.....?

The Tarantula is a bit of an acquired taste though, its way too green and you have subdued some of the red nebulosity around those clusters. Too harsh I am afraid, but as you say, you are having fun with the sliders and coming along in leaps and bounds.

Fantastic to see you progress so fast. The additional subs are really helping, the stars on the galaxy shot are quite respectable, as are the NGC2070 ones.

Go DSS GO!

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Chris; I was pleased with 253 as it was quite low in the sky, a last
minute grab. 2070 mystified me as I didn't deliberately subdue the red, I just couldn't get any sign of red at all. Even if I saturated the image so
that it looked like a garish cartoon there was only a hint of red. Playing
carefully with the RGB sliders only produced a faint red cast to the whole image. I only posted the pic cos I was surprised at how well it
handled high magnification; it is still quite good at 400x.

Excellent shots Raymo

Especially like the NGC 253 image, nice details.

I shot the Tarantula the other night with the 1100D and also couldn't get hardly any red at all, must be a lot of Olll.

Cheers
Jo

That's a very nice NGC253 with only 4 minutes Ray.

NGC2070 is a funny one. It has a mix of OIII and Ha that seems to swing from one to the other depending on camera and filters. LP filters make it look red.

Thanks Jo and Kevin. I will try 2070 with the OIII filter, although I will
have to use EP projection, as I have no way of attaching it to my prime setup.

An OIII filter will make it look green. Do you have a 2" LP filter of any sort like a CLS or Deep Sky?
